5 Awards in one day

Awards Vexrobotics

This last weekend was filled with activities and accomplishments for Rolling Robots' Middle School and Elementary School teams; we participated in events at 3 different locations (spanning from Palos Verdes to Woodland Hills) and the teams took home 5 separate Awards!

At the Miraleste TESI Middle School Tournament we had 5 teams participating with 4 in the top ten and they all made it to the final Elimination Rounds. 7700B from Rolling Hills Estates was ranked 1st and 7700A from Glendale was 3rd.

7700B from Rolling Hills Estates also won the Excellence Award. This is the Highest Award at any VEX tournament. This is the second time this season that they have won Excellence; I guess you could say they make an 'Excellent' team! This Award qualifies them for the State Championship to be held in Pomona on March 9th and 10th.

Vex IQ 7700H

Our Elementary School kids participated in the VEX IQ Tournament at El Camino College. We had 5 teams there as well. We had 7700G from Glendale finish 3rd, and 7700H from Holliston Dream Tree Center and 7700P from Palos Verdes formed an alliance to finish 4th. Out of 34 teams competing Rolling Robots had 3rd, 4th, 11th, 12th, and 14th rankings. And team 7700J won the Judges Award, which the tournament judges give to a team they feel deserved special recognition.

Over the day we won 4 Judges Awards. At TESI 7700X our all-girl team won the Award and so did our newest team of homeschool students, 7700Y.

In the elimination rounds 7700N made it all the way to the finals. They would not give up in the finals and made it go to 4 matches ending in 1 win, 1 tie, and 2 losses... so close! Although they did not win they had a good enough showing that they were given the Judges Award.
